The Programs

Through a network of staff and volunteers, MOW of Charleston packages and delivers hot noon meals to home-bound seniors.

While there, the meal deliverers provide a daily safety check to ensure our clients are stable and comfortable.

Many of our clients live in substandard housing, have serious health conditions and little or no family support. Clients are referred by medical staff, family, friends, hospice and other human service organizations.

Meals are delivered on weekdays from the Cooper River to the Edisto River. Meals on Wheels of Charleston serves:

* Downtown and Peninsula Charleston

* North Charleston

* West Ashley

* Ravenel/Hollywood

* James, Johns, Wadmalaw & down to Edisto Island

Crisis Meals

CASC provides Crisis Meals as an intervention service to stabilize the home.  Unlike the traditional Meals on Wheels service, clients receive meals within 24 hours of a referral and only for up to six months.

Crisis Meals may be needed with the death of a care giver, discharge from a hospital following a medical crisis, hospice service referral or reported cases of malnourishment.  CASC then provides an assessment and case management service with ongoing nutritional support and monitoring in order to stabilize the home.
